Making a Photo Collage Using Adobe Photoshop Programs

Making a photo collage on the computer can be accomplished using several programs. Downloads are available for collage programs on the Internet. An excellent program to use are any of the Photoshop programs. The newest version available is CS4. All versions of Adobe Photoshop work the same when creating a collage. The difference in the programs basically consists of what special effects can be done with the pictures that are included in the collage.
Step 1 - Open the Adobe Photoshop program. Click on the "File" tab and then on "New." Change the width and heights to inches. Set the collage canvas size by inserting the height and width dimensions. Click "OK" and a blank canvas will appear on the computer.
Step 2 - Click on the "File" tab and then "Open." Locate the digital picture file and open one of the pictureto insert in the collage.
Step 3 - Click on the "Copy" button that is in the side box. The "Copy" button is the dotted lined box. Click the mouse in the corner of the desired area to be copied and drag it to the desired ending point.Click the "Edit" tab and then click on "Copy." Close the window of the picture that was just copied. Click in the collage canvas. Click on the "Edit" tab and then click "Paste." The copied picture will appear on the collage canvas.
Step 4 - Hold down the "Ctrl" key and the letter "T" at the same time. This will put a box around the picture that was just pasted onto the collage canvas. Use the mouse and adjust the size and rotation by pointing the mouse at the corner of the dotted lines. Pull the mouse out to make the picture larger and push it in to make the picture smaller. Pointing the mouse at the corner of the box will reveal a bent arrow that will allow the picture to be tilted. Double-click on the picture to set it into place.
Step 5 - Repeat the process for the desired pictures required to complete the collage.
Step 7 - Move the pictures forward or backward by clicking on the "Layer" tab. Click on "Arrange," then choose the appropriate layering property.

Step 8 - Complete the collage after all pictures are properly placed by clicking on the "Layer" tab and then select "Flatten Image." Click on "File," "Save." Select the desired format. The JPEG format is what is

recommended for most collages. Click "OK" on the JPEG Options window and the collage is finished.
