Scrapbook Albums and How to Construct One

Scrapbook albums come in a range of materials, sizes, and styles. The first step in constructing scrapbook albums is choosing the album itself.

1. Materials: Leather scrapbook albums are likely to be the most expensive. Honeymoon scrapbook albums are precious, however, and you may want to choose durable leather for yours. Cloth-covered scrapbook albums are also a good choice. Some have a window opening on the front cover for a special photo. The cloth used is usually book cloth, so it is strong. Cheap scrapbook albums are also available. These are usually made of heavy cover stock, plain or covered with paper.

2. Sizes: Standard scrapbook albums have a useable page size of 12x12 inches. The scrapbook album itself may measure 13x14 inches or more, but part of that is the book's spine. Some scrapbook albums are larger - as large as 18x20 inches. Smaller scrapbook albums are as small as 4x6 inches. As a novice, you may want to select from the standard scrapbook albums, since scrapbook supplies are made to that standard.

3. Styles: As the popularity

Once you have selected a scrapbook album, you need to sort the photos and memorabilia you will use. Pay attention to the theme of each piece as well as the colors.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 3

Honeymoon scrapbook albums already have an overall theme - the honeymoon. Your next step will be to decide sub-themes for each 2-page spread. For example, you might have a theme of arrival at Bora Bora, with approach photos of the island from the air. This theme could also include photos taken upon landing. First impressions are important memories. Lay out your photos, deciding a theme for each page or 2-page spread. Then move to the next step.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 4

Background papers are a good way to tie pages together. Scrapbooking paper in standard 12x12 inch size comes in a multitude of colors and patterns. Plain paper is also available. Be sure you purchase paper that is acid free to protect your photo After you arrange and affix the photos, it's time to add journaling. "Journaling" is nothing more than notes or captions that help explain the photos. You may have a memory of what was said when a certain photo was taken - or a comment about what happened immediately before or after. Journaling can be done on small pieces of paper that are added to scrapbook albums much as photos are added.

How to Construct a Scrapbook Album - Step 7

The final touch in constructing scrapbook albums is to add embellishments, charms, stickers, and other small pieces that add interest. Honeymoon scrapbook albums might include small hearts or kisses. Bora Bora scrapbook albums, or other tropical scrapbook albums, might include small sandals or seashells.

Simple Scrapbooking Page Ideas

There are times when the most creative of croppers, surrounded by the most personal pictures, and the most inspiring implements, simply don't know what to do. While the basics always apply, (you will need a topic, background and decorations), it's not always easy to decide what the specifics will be. If your well has run dry, here are a few scrapbooking page ideas to bring back your muse.

Location, Location, Location

If the event your photos cover is even remotely location specific, (vacation, visiting family, trip to a museum), this offers you an easy theme to utilize in your design scheme. Simply choose a background paper, use a 2 to 3 inch tall rectangular accent the width of the page, and layer an oval over that. By writing the location name in the oval, Grandma's House, Connecticut, or Cherry Street Elementary, you have created a center design for your page. Quotes about the place like, "Grandma's House is filled with love," or "School Daze" written down the side or around a photograph often add a nice touch. Here are some great ideas for working with children or pets. Leaf through an expressions book for a theme like, "Puppy Love", "Spring fever" or "Wild Thing!" Use stickers to spell out the expression down one side of the page. Then use circular cutters to round pictures, and to make slight larger paper borders for the photos. You then leave the borders blank, or use them to label the individual shot. This is also a fun place to use bubble quotes to indicate the puppy or child saying some cute expression like, "Mommy needs a nap!"

Time of Your Life

You have already figured out that having a theme will make creating your page an easier task. Teachers use this method when planning lessons for elementary students because it helps to bring the different elements of a task together.

Focusing your scrapbooking page on a time period, or season, also works well. For instance, your may call your page "The Wonder Years" with pictures of wide eyed toddlers, "Before Kids", or "Winter Wonderland."

Borders are a fun technique for these themes. For instance, it would be easy to locate a snowflake themed kit. You could then create a snowflake border, interspersed with small round face cutouts among the falling snowflakes.

make Christmas ornaments out of paper

Making Christmas ornaments out of paper can be a great activity to get the whole family involved in, especially younger children. Those who are too young to follow cutting designs can join in by painting or drawing on the finished cut shapes. Making some of your own ornaments
Materials:
A4 Thick White Paper
Glue
Scissors
Black and Red Pens
Gold Glitter Glue
Optional: Gold Pipe Cleaner, Thread for Hanging

Method:

Start by taking a piece of paper and cutting it in half. Now you need to roll this paper round into a cone so there's no gap at the top and glue it along one edge. Trim the base of your cone to make it even. From the remaining half of your paper, cut out a pair of wings (keep them joined in the middle) and paint them with the gold glitter glue. From the paper scraps, cut out a circle for the Angel's face and draw a face on it using the pens before gluing it to the top of your cone. When the wings are dry you can glue them to the back of your Angel to finish. For extra authenticity you can glue a gold pipe cleaner to the back of your Angel's face and bend it up and round into a halo shape. You can sit these Angels up as freestanding ornaments or if you like or you can attach thread to hang them from the branches of your Christmas tree.

Best Way To Save Money On Scrapbook Supplies

Scrapbooking is a rather enjoyable hobby, so much so that lots of people do not notice that they have been spending way too much money on their hobby. A lot of hobbyists have this nasty habit of buying too much scrapbook supplies that they do not necessarily need for their current project. If you find yourself experiencing the same problem of overspending on materials you will not be using anytime soon, you will find the following tips helpful in curbing your bad habit.

The first thing you need to do is to try shopping for scrapbook materials online. This will allow you to take your time browsing through all of the different types of materials without being pressured to buy anything. Another good thing about shopping for supplies online is that you can open multiple websites at a time so you can compare prices between the different shops.

If you are not all that comfortable about doing your shopping online, you can still use scrapbook supplies stores' websites to get an idea on just how much the materials you need costs. Use the prices you get from the websites to create a budget for your next trip at the craft store.
Before you go to the store, remember to bring a list of the things that you need to buy and also just enough cash for the scrapbook materials that are on your list. Do not bring your credit card with you, it will only tempt you to buy other materials that you do not need. Try and fight your impulse to want to buy everything that you found cute.Another way that you can minimize your spending is to use other kinds of scrapbook supplies and materials. Not all of the things that you can put into a scrapbook are not necessarily only those that you buy in craft stores; you can actually find different kinds of interesting materials everywhere you look. For instance, if you have a garden you can use leaves and flowers. Just press them in between the pages of a thick book until they are perfectly dry so you can use them in your scrapbook. You can also use some of the things that may be lying around your house as well, you may have some pieces of fabric that have beautiful patterns, odd buttons, you may also have some old ribbons, all these things are viable materials for your scrapbook that you can use to make your projects look nice.

You can still enjoy your scrapbooking hobby while also saving a lot of money. By just controlling the way you spend on scrapbooking supplies, it is surprising just how much money you will save, and you will also save a lot on storage space because you will not be buying materials that you have no use

promote your scrap book site with good articles

If you own a craft site and want more exposure for your work, this is what you do. Simply write an article. It could be a craft and or project or pattern that people can do at home. It could be a piece about how you do what you do. A woodworker could give tips about the best tools to use. A candle maker could give tips about the best wax or molds to use. Once you have your article, you let other people publish it on their website . How does this help me? –You wonder. In exchange for using your article, the publishing website also puts up what's called a resource box. This is just a little "About the Author" section that tells a little about you and has an active link back to YOUR website. That way, everyone who reads your article on another website can follow the link to your site. It's really just free publicity. You're getting free advertising space on someone else's website. And that link will help you out on search engines too.

Scrapbooking Ideas

A really good way to remember all the events of your perfect day is by creating a wedding scrapbook. Maybe you are still in the honeymoon phase of the marriage or maybe you have been married long enough to not be surprised by anything anymore; despite how long you have been married, it is always good to remember that special day and creating a wedding scrapbook is the ideal way to preserve those once in a lifetime memories. With these wedding scrapbooking ideas, creating your wedding scrapbook will be fun and you will enjoy spending the rest of your life looking over it, time after time.
In your scrapbook, you should include 5 major events:
  • The engagement
  • The wedding/pictures taken by a professional
  • The wedding candid pictures, taken by family and friends
  • The honeymoon
  • And everything that has happened after
For the engagement section, you will want to include any mementos from that special day because that is where it all began. If you went to a concert or the movies before he proposed, include the stubs. If you were at a special dinner and you were able to snatch anything from the restaurant that you can hold near and dear to your heart, include that into this section and if there are pictures of the proposals, you know that those are a must for your scrapbook, right?
The next section in your scrapbook is where you will include formal photos that were taken by the hired photography. These photos are the ones that show you getting ready and the ones that you and your spouse posed for, so that you are able to remember the formality of the day. These pictures should be in the scrapbook but please do not use all of them; just choose a few that you really love.
Then you move on to the section where you will be smiling because candid pictures always capture what the photographer refused to take. Your friends and family took pictures at your wedding and you can expect them to take pictures of the moments that you wish you could forget but you have to admit that these pictures are even better than the ones the photographer took, right? For your next wedding scrapbooking ideas, you should ensure that you include pictures from the honeymoon because this is where your two lives became completely one and you will want to remember that one of a kind vacation.
Now finally, the last thing that should be in your book is something that you will take the rest of your life to build and that is, happily ever after moments.

Scrapbooking Ideas

Scrapbooking can be a great way for children and adults to be creative, however it is often difficult to think of exciting scrapbooking ideas. A scrapbook can essentially be made of any interesting event in order to preserve important memories. As an alternative to a basic photo album, a scrapbook can contain photographs, mementos, clippings, and much more. There are several ways for people to get started with this fun and fascinating hobby.
One of the easiest scrapbooks for a person to begin building is centered around their family. They will have the subject immediately available to them, and most families will have a whole range of photographs which can be included to start the scrapbook off. One of the best scrapbooking page ideas is to set up an individual page for each member of the family. This can include photographs, descriptions of likes and dislikes, and any achievements which have been earned. Family scrapbooks often grow substantially over time as information is added about extended family members. In this way it can become a very interesting record of a family's history, dating back for generations.
Another type of scrapbook which is fun to create is one based on the seasons. Seasonal scrapbooks are convenient because they can be started at any time, and they can quickly be filled with interesting content. A spring scrapbook can be compiled and then just a few months later a summer one can be begun. Each season will provide its own unique content, but a good seasonal scrapbook will give a sense of the time in which it was made. For example, a fall scrapbook might include a dried leaf which has turned brown, and which acts as a reminder of a walk in the park. A seasonal scrapbook can also include photographs and mementos from special occasions, so a winter scrapbook could include content about Christmas, for example.
Inspiration for scrapbooking ideas can come from anywhere. Often it will come from relationships, and it can make a very thoughtful gift to create a scrapbook for a best friend. This is often very effective when given as a surprise gift, although it can also be interesting for best friends to make a scrapbook for each other. A best friend scrapbook will usually involve a lot of photographs to evoke happy memories of times shared together. It can also include content which defines what best friends mean to each other, and why they are special. One of the best scrapbooking page ideas is to devote a full-page to how they met. It can also be a good idea for best friends to show how well they know each other by including, for example, clippings about their respective favorite bands or movies.
These are just some examples of the types of fun scrapbooking projects which can be created. They can be started quickly, easily, and inexpensively. This is such an enjoyable hobby that most people find that after completing a couple of projects they are inspired to come up with many more fun and exciting scrapbooking ideas.

organizing your scrapbook

One of the biggest reasons many of us don’t touch our scrapbooks for months is that supplies and photos are scattered all over the place. Having to hunt for a book of stickers or a special pair of scissors takes all the fun out of creating a new page for your scrapbook. Here are few ideas how you can create a scrapbooking organization process.

Group your supplies by theme. Create one general supplies container that has all your essential tools and materials in it. Then sort your stickers, special papers and accessories by category. Depending on what scrapbooks you are working on, you could organize them by particular scrapbook (i.e. wedding scrapbook, child’s scrapbook etc.), or you could organize them by season (Christmas stuff, summer themed supplies etc.) or overall theme or color scheme.

Get the pictures you are planning to use as well. I usually sort them into separate envelopes, or small boxes for each scrapbook I am working on. If you are organizing your supplies by scrapbook, it’s a good idea to keep your picture box for that scrapbook with the rest of your supplies.

I like to use clear plastic bins to store my scrapbooking supplies, so I can easily see what’s inside. Clear, descriptive labels on the outside of the box help as well. Store the boxes of supplies for scrapbooks you are currently working on close to the area where you like to scrapbook. This will keep you from running back and forth for supplies.

Store any supplies for books that you are not currently working on, or any extra supplies you may have purchased on sale, or for future projects in a dark, dry place. A closet in a spare room makes a great storage place. If you are considering storing your scrapbooking supplies in the basement or attic, make sure the area I like to use clear plastic bins to store my scrapbooking supplies, so I can easily see what’s inside. You don’t want to unpack your supplies in a few months and find out that everything has been ruined by mold, bleached from being exposed to light, or warped from heat.

Take a little time to set-up a scrapbooking organization process with your scrapbooking supplies. You’ll find you will enjoy scrapbooking even more when everything you need is right at your fingertips. Go out and get some boxes or plastic bins to store your supplies and start organizing your supplies this week.

how to make digital card

Supplies:
Adhesives: Scotch Wrinkle Free Glue Stick (3M), Glue Glider (Glue Arts)
Cardstock: Core’dinations White Wash Pickle Barrel (ColorCore)
Die-cuts: various fonts using the (Silhouette)
Ink: VersaMark (Tsukineko), red and green distress inks
Patterned paper: Screen Print Overlay (Hambly Studios), Christmas Is... (BasicGrey), other papers (Cloud 9 Design)
Pens: (ZIG)
Rub-ons: BoBunny
Stamps: From the Garden (Fancy Pants)
Stickers: (KI Memories)
Tools: Electronic cutting tool (Silhouette)
Other/Misc: Clear Embossing Powder (Ranger) 1. I started by laying out the paper I’d chosen for my layout base.

2. After cutting the Core’dinations paper in half, I adhered one piece to the bottom of each side of my layout.

3. Working with overlays can be tricky. A little tip is to plan around the fact that you need to hide your adhesive. Here, I cut my overlay in half and then placed it on top of my layout. Using the border stickers, I was able to adhere my overlay to the layout just enough to keep it in place until I came back with more adhesive a little later.

4. Using other patterns from the line, I matted my photos. A little rule of thumb I go by is to cut my mats a ½“ bigger than my picture. This allows a quarter of an inch mat all the way around your photo 7 The tag is one I did while following along with Tim Holtz’s 12 Tags of Christmas in 2009. It showcases one of my favorite techniques: Resist.

a. Start by lightly inking the tag with green distress ink.

b. Then, using VersaMark, I stamped my image in the bottom right corner of the tag. I used clear embossing powder to emboss my image.

c. Then comes the inking! I inked the tag using red and green distress inks. The fabulous part is that the embossed image resists the ink!

d. I added some embellishments and ribbon, as well as a title, also cut from my Silhouette.

scrapbooking ideas

scrapbooking is a wonderful way to make memories come alive whenever you want them to. Scrapbooking is different from plain photos because it includes colors, pictures and journaling that will show and describe what you felt and how you went through those days, weeks, months and sometimes years of your life.

Scrapbooking takes time, commitment and a lot of co-ordination and because of this there is a lot of help available online, in books and even DVDs should you feel the need for any guidance. Here is a scrapbooking idea that should inspire you.
A new baby can be the perfect scrapbooking idea for which you should prepare before the baby arrives. In fact the best time to start collecting material will be right after you find out you are pregnant. During pregnancy your personality changes drastically along with your body, moods, eating habits and so on. You may want to record all this in a journal for putting in your scrapbook later. Take as many pictures as you can so you have enough to choose from when making your scrapbook.Getting the Material Ready

You can get an album and alter its pages while saving some places for the photographs you will include in your scrapbook. A great scrapbooking idea is to start creating some of the pages ahead of time. For example, the font page, the colors you like, and the different designs you have in mind as well as sorting the available pictures in order to have them ready when you are ready to place them in your scrapbook.

How to Make Bookmarks with Word Processing Software

You can use your trusty word processor and clip art, or create a cut and paste collage of favorite clips and craft embellishments (perhaps from scrapbook leftovers) on a nice piece of card stock.

WORD PROCESSOR METHOD: Create a landscape page (wider rather than longer for the larger dimension) then create a table with 4 equally sized columns to fill up the page - each column will become one bookmark. Next, add interesting borders around the cells and any background color you wish.

Insert clip art images or pictures from your computer, digital camera or graphics collections into the columns.Size the graphics to fit within the table columns or use a text box or frame to crop out what you don't want to print. Alternatively, you can edit your art or photo in a graphics program to make it the exact size you need.

Using the same technique (using a frame or text box) add words that will print on top the pictures or add boxes of text with white or colored backgrounds that print on the graphics or around them. For example, make the graphic you add to each bookmark smaller, so it's a decoration at the top, middle or bottom of the bookmark, then add a bit of poetry or a special quote to the rest of the table column blank space areas.
