Make a Photo Collage From Old Photos

Using old picture in a collage gives new meaning to history. A image collage of old photos makes a stunning conversation piece in any home. Make a wall decoration that is meaningful and decorative using old photos and your imagination. Using a collage to depict your ancestors, a long ago  or your child's entire school history is a project that can be enjoyed for years to come.



  • Select the software to use for the collage. Free downloads are available that have applications to create your collage. Picasa is one of the free sites and  offers a free trial period.

    Using the collage software, choose the size and resolution for your collage. A high resolution of 300 for printing an 8x11 collage is a good choice

    Scan the old photos into your photo library in the photo program you have chosen. Drag approximately 10 photos into the work area of the collage program. Arrange the photos and their size for a good presentation. To make changes to one of the photos while constructing the collage, right-click on the photo and click on "View and Edit"; the photo will go to the edit page, where you can crop it or adjust the color and lighting. Click "Collage" to return.

    Make your final arrangement for the collage and use the "Preview" option that most collage programs provide. When the collage is the way you want it to be use the "Create Collage"  command. This last action will instruct the program to create your collage as you have designed it.

    Print your collage on  quality photo paper. Use high gloss or semi-gloss photo paper for the best result

    Create Picture Collage on Your Pc and free clipart

    Making a digital photo collage is not as difficult as one might think. Now you can even make a photo collage on the computer, with just Microsoft Publisher, photo editing software, and digital photos collage are simple.
    It is a very simple with most photo editing software. Photo Collage is collage software that is capable of creating eye-catching photo collages, desktop wallpaper, CD and DVD covers, and miscellaneous Web graphics. A very good photo editing software is PhotoShop Elements and older versions of it, which are perfectly fine, often come included with a new digital camera, printer or scanner.
    Make Photo Collage using below steps:
    Step 1: Sets collage's size
    On main interface, click "Collage" button from collage menu, and click Collage Setup, on this dialog, select collage's size as 5"x7.
    Step 2: Sets collage's background
    Select collage's background, by click on collage menu, on this dialog, selects collage's background picture, and selects display mode, then click "OK" button to return to main interface, notice collage's background has changed. You could also select "Background Filling Effect" from the menu
    Step 3: Sets collage's frame
    From the collage menu, click on collage frame, select it and then click "OK" button to return to main interface.
    Step 4: Inserts images
    On main interface, click "Image" button, in this dialog, click "Browse" button to locate your images folder, then all images in the folder are displayed as thumbnail, select one, then click "Open" button, then, the selected image will be inserted onto collage.
    Step 5: Sets mask for images
    On main interface, click an image to select it, then click "Blend" button, select a mask pattern for the image, then click "OK" button.
    Step 6: Adds Text
    Click "Text" button, from main interface. You could key in your words here, then click outside the text box to finish editing. Click the drop arrow on "Text" button, You could set text's shadow and filling effect also.
    Step 7: Save and Print
    After than you can save your print your photo collage, just click save and print options from the main interface.
    Step 8: More functions
    After download Photo Collage and install it, you can view User Manual on the help document to learn more functions of this program, such as rotating image, processing image, editing image, browsing image, batch rename, batch process.
